Arriving in Style: Luxury Wedding Transport Options
When it comes to your big day, every detail matters. One aspect that often captures the imagination of couples and guests alike is the wedding transport. It’s not just about getting from A to B; it’s about making a grand entrance that sets the tone for your entire celebration. Let’s explore some opulent options for getting to your wedding that will ensure you arrive at your venue in sumptuous style.
Classic Car: Timeless Elegance on Wheels
There’s something undeniably romantic about vintage cars. A classic Rolls-Royce or Bentley can add a touch of old-world charm to your wedding day. These vehicles aren’t just modes of transport; they’re rolling pieces of history that can complement any wedding theme, from vintage to modern.
Popular Classic Car Choices for Weddings:
- Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud
- Bentley S3
- Jaguar E-Type
- Austin Princess Limousine
The gleaming chrome, polished wood interiors and butter-soft leather seats of these classics offer a luxurious experience that’s hard to match. Many classic car hire companies specialise in wedding transport, ensuring that your vehicle is in pristine condition for your special day.
Horse-Drawn Carriage: A Fairy Tale Come True
For those dreaming of a truly magical entrance, a horse-drawn carriage might be the perfect way to get to your wedding. This option brings a touch of fairy tale romance to life, creating a scene straight out of a storybook.
Types of Carriages:
- Landau (with a fold-down top)
- Victoria (open-topped for sunny days)
- Glass Coach (enclosed for all-weather comfort)
The clip-clop of hooves and the gentle sway of the carriage create a serene and romantic atmosphere. It’s an excellent choice for couples who want to savour every moment of their journey to the wedding venue.
Luxury Limousine: Modern Sophistication
For a contemporary take on luxury wedding transport, consider a high-end limousine. These vehicles offer space, comfort and a touch of Hollywood glamour.
Limousine Options:
- Stretch Hummer
- Mercedes-Benz S-Class
- Chrysler 300C
- Lincoln Town Car
Limousines are particularly practical for larger wedding parties, allowing bridesmaids and groomsmen to travel together. Many come equipped with entertainment systems and refreshment bars, letting you start the celebration en route to your venue.
Helicopter: A Sky-High Entrance
For couples looking to make a truly unforgettable entrance, arriving by helicopter is hard to beat. This transportation option offers not just luxury but also breathtaking views and a dash of adventure.
Benefits of Helicopter Wedding Transport:
- Spectacular aerial views
- Avoids traffic congestion
- Creates a dramatic entrance
- Perfect for remote or hard-to-reach venues
While certainly at the higher end of the budget spectrum, helicopter transport can be a practical solution for weddings in secluded locations or for couples with a particular flair for the dramatic.
Luxury Boat: Sailing into Matrimony
For waterside weddings, arriving by boat can be both practical and incredibly romantic. Whether it’s a sleek yacht, a classic steamboat or a Venetian gondola, water-based transportation offers a unique and luxurious way to get to your wedding.
Water Transport Ideas:
- Luxury yacht
- Restored steamboat
- Traditional narrowboat (for canal-side venues)
- Speed boat (for thrill-seeking couples)
This option works particularly well for coastal or lakeside venues, and if you’re looking for a show-stopping way of how to get to your wedding it creates stunning photo opportunities and a memorable journey for the bride and groom.

Vintage Bus: Group Travel with Style
For couples who want to transport their entire wedding party in style, a beautifully restored vintage bus could be the answer. This option combines practicality with a hefty dose of nostalgia and charm.
Advantages of Vintage Bus Hire:
- Can transport large groups together
- Creates a fun, social atmosphere
- Offers great photo opportunities
- Adds a unique element to your wedding day
Popular choices include the iconic London Routemaster or a 1950s coach. Many of these vehicles have been lovingly restored with luxurious interiors, making them a comfortable and stylish option for wedding transport.
Luxury Sports Car: For the Speed Enthusiasts
For couples with a need for speed, arriving in a high-performance sports car can add an exciting edge to your wedding. Imagine pulling up in a sleek Ferrari or a powerful Aston Martin – it’s sure to get hearts racing.
Popular Sports Car Choices:
- Aston Martin DB9
- Ferrari 488
- Lamborghini Huracán
- Porsche 911
While these cars might not be the most practical for brides in voluminous gowns, they can be a perfect choice for the groom’s passage or for couples opting for a more streamlined wedding style.
Personalised Wedding Transport: Making It Uniquely Yours
Whatever method of transport you use to get to your nuptials, it should reflect your personality as a couple so don’t be afraid to think outside the box. Some couples have arrived on a tandem bicycle, others in a hot air balloon and some have even skydived into their ceremonies!
The key is to choose the option that feels right for you. Whether that’s a horse-drawn carriage or a helicopter, the most important thing is that it adds to the joy and excitement of your special day.
When selecting how to get to your wedding, consider these factors:
- Your wedding theme and style
- The practicalities of your venue location
- Your budget
- The number of people you need to transport
- The photo opportunities you’d like to create
By carefully considering these elements, you can choose the method that not only gets you to your venue in style but also contributes to the overall magic of your wedding day.
Your choice of transportation for your wedding sets the tone for your entire celebration. It’s the first glimpse your guests will have of you on your big day and it’s an opportunity to indulge in a truly luxurious experience. Whether you opt for the timeless elegance of a classic car, the fairy tale romance of a horse-drawn carriage or the modern sophistication of a luxury limousine, the way in which you get to your wedding should be a reflection of your style and personality. So take the time to explore your options and choose a mode of transport that will make your journey to wedded bliss as memorable as the destination itself.

I was lucky enough to have a horse-drawn carriage take me to my wedding venue, I felt like Cinderella! Yes it was very expensive but for creating a special once in a lifetime moment it was priceless. We later had a Rolls Royce to transport us to the evening venue. It was such a wonderful day <3
My husband really wanted us both to arrive on horseback but I am terrified of them so we opted for classic cars instead. They were fantastic! It really does make all the difference to be able to turn up to your wedding in a lovely vehicle. The photos look great too!
We didn’t use any special transport for our wedding as our ceremony and reception venue were all in the same place, in a gorgeous countryside hotel. We drove our own car there and drove home in it a couple of days later once we were married. A part of me does regret not having a fancy car or horses etc but it just wasn’t necessary. If one day we renew our vows and we can always have fancy transport then – I feel like I need to have my princess moment!
I am getting married this summer and I am still trying to choose what wedding transport to book. Your post is so helpful, thank you, as it has simplified the options for me and I’ll use this as a guide to work out what will work best for us.
I had to laugh when my brother booked a fun bus to get us (the stag crew) to his wedding. Needless to say as a group of rugby players we had a few beers onboard and arrived in high spirits!! Luckily the day went without a hitch and we have great memories of the locals stopping and staring at us as we arrived at the venue and partied our way off the bus XD
My friend had the most beautiful open top car for her wedding. I can’t remember the make of the car, maybe a Corvette? But it was stunning and so luxurious. I always thought I’d want either a Rolls Royce or a horse drawn Cinderella carriage but this really changed my opinion. It’s great that there are so many great ways to get to your wedding these days.
I think it’s super unusual but my (now) husband and I arrived in separate canoes to our wedding! We both canoe competitively so it seemed apt to have our wedding ceremony on a Caribbean island and arrive by the sea. The best thing was we kept it totally secret from everyone, our guests’ faces were an absolute picture when we paddled up!
If I ever get married I want to arrive on my skateboard surrounded by all my groomsmen lol. And my bride can get there however she wants, as long as she turns up to the altar I don’t care haha
We paid to hire a Ferrari for the day for our wedding but the company went bust two weeks before the big day and we lost our money. It was so upsetting and not what we needed so close to our wedding. The power of social media saved us though – people heard about our situation and a lovely local company who hire out classic cars contacted us and offered a car of our choice for free. It was the kindest offer, even talking about it here now gives me goosebumps! We opted for an old fashioned car, me being me I can’t remember what make it was but it was silver and shiny and so stylish, I felt so special in it! So yes it makes all the difference to have the right transport to get you to your big day!
My dad tells me he walked to his wedding and my mum got dropped off by her dad in his works van. How times have changed eh? I had a Porsche to get to mine and my wife was already at the venue as we married in a hotel so didn’t need anything. It is an expense but for me it was worth it, I can’t think of another time I’d be able to justify renting a flashy car like a Porsche!
When my mum got remarried I surprised her by turning up to collect her in my boss’s Mercedes. I couldn’t quite believe he’d agreed to lend it to me for the day but I wasn’t going to argue. My mum panicked the whole way to the venue though as she was worried I was going to damage the car somehow (thanks for the confidence in me Mum) and my boss would sack me. Luckily neither happened and I delivered my mum safely to the altar and returned the car to my boss the next day without a scratch on it. I even got a promotion 3 months later so maybe that helped?!?
My partner and I are currently mulling over what transport to use for our wedding so this post has been a useful read for us. I’d love a helicopter but I don’t think it’ll work for us as our venue is a cliffside hotel with no flat landing area anywhere close by so it would be a bit pointless as I’d have to go the rest of the way in a car. I did suggest we change the venue by hubby to be said no, what a spoil sport 😉
It seems like everything has so many layers of expense these days and weddings have become SO pricy. You basically have to take out a loan or mortgage just to get wed! I know we all want all the bells and whistles but really is it worth getting into significant debt for? I think not but my fiancée wants high luxury so I may have no say in it at all. She is worth it though, she’s one in a million. I’m a very lucky man.
I’m a female limo driver and I love it when I get to do wedding jobs. It is so special to see the happy bride – happy but often very nervous – and her bridesmaids and dad or whoever is giving her away. I do my best to look after them and I get them to the venue safe and sound. Any post-wedding runs are fun too but in a different way as often by then people are drunk so it’s a bit more unpredictable! I know wedding cars etc are an expense but they are well worth it and many companies like ours offer payment plans so you don’t need to pay it in one lump sum.
